Photography with great equipment or with excellent story?

Recently, it's more common to see people using a professional camera whenever they take photos. But there is a misunderstanding for people think they will have great pictures with the use of professional camera. Actually, great photos come from your skill and mind. It's none of the business of the camera.

Many people invest a lot of money to buy expensive equipments like DSLR, flashlight, and tripod before knowing the skill of photography. We all knew the saying "sharp tools make good work" but we also saw some women complaining about their boyfriend's photographic skill even they looked like an expert and used a professional camera. What's wrong with it?

The essence of creating is thinking. No matter what you create a photograph, design, music, or performance, the story it contains is what always matters.

When I traveled in Australia and New Zealand, a girl told me "your picture tells a story". I took many awesome photos at that time. Of course, the camera did a good job in that dusky environment but I think loneliness did a bigger favor. I used a semi-DSLR camera to take a picture, not a real DSLR. And now, I'm in the Philippines, I only have my smartphone but I still take a good picture.

A powerful image with a reflection of a story depicted in your eyes. The great equipments and skills could help you take a high-quality picture but not necessarily touched people's heart. You have to observe what you see, look within the story, find out the best composition, and capture the moment. That's the point of creating an awesome picture not just by an expensive camera.

So which one do you want to be? The one who only takes high-quality photos, the one whose photos tell an excellent story or someone who does both.
